Good bike ride today.....

Went out today with my training partner Chris for what was meant to be an easy 2 1/2 hour ride at around 120-140bpm, mainly on the flats; the culmination of an easy week. Well Chris had other ideas! The easy flat capped HR ride turned into a 2 hour 50 minute hill session (I'd call them mountains!). There are plenty of hills in south Wales and I think we found all of them!

Anyway, it was a great session and I'm sure it'll stand me in good stead for IM Austria in July. I have about 17 weeks left until the big day and am happy with the way my training is progressing so far. We're taking it nice and steady at the moment and seeing some good gains. I'm going to be doing a half marathon on Sunday, so that will be a good test of my fitness - I've done this race for the previous 2 years so it will act as a good gauge of where my training is currently at.

Nice one Frank. Ride long and hard! Hope your half is a good one. Neg splits are the way forward for training runs! I did this at Fleet half for FLM prep and it was a good motivator. Also you are not too pooped to train the following week.

My coach says negative split is the best way too, so I'll give that a go on Sunday. Fingers crossed!
