I got back from a work trip in Toulouse on Thursday night and probably enjoyed the Toulousian "culture" a little bit too much! OK, it wasn't a crazy, crazy time, but being away from your usual routine and eating out every night definately effects you (oh yes, the Fronton was nice too!).
Anyway, I did the local 5km ParkRun race this morning. I was hoping that some of the speed I'd gained in the run up to the Cardiff half marathon would still be with me and the trip to Toulouse hadn't taken too much out of me. It was a cold, cold morning (3'C), but that didn't bother me too much and after a hard effort I managed to come home with a 12 second PB. Happy with that, all things considered.
I'm not sure if I'll continue with these 5km races over the winter to keep some speed or concentrate on some longer stuff (or even some x-country) in preparation for next years Ironman. Answers on a postcard!

It's winter, do whatever you enjoy most. Or do some of both. Go on, be a Devil!
A bit of both I think, that should keep it fresh. Thinking of getting get a hybrid bike too, that should keep me busy on the easier tracks/trails around Cardiff.
Forget the hybrid, get a cross bike and do some racing! It is great fun.
I did think about a cross bike, maybe I'll have to buy both! ;-)
