What's your dream race?

OK, you have one free entry (including travel) into any triathlon race you like, what's it going to be? Will it be Kona, Canada, Clearwater or Phuket or perhaps something like Alpe d'Huez or Wildflower?

For me it's the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon. It includes a 1.5 mile swim from Alcatraz Island to the mainland in the San Francisco Bay. The race continues with a gruelling 18 mile bike ride out the Great Highway, through the Golden Gate Park, and concludes with a demanding 8 mile run through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, including the infamous Sand Ladder (400 sand steps!). So what's your dream race?

Interesting question ...

Anything a long way away, that's hot and sunny, with a good swimmer and runner to support me ... o hang on, that excludes IM branded races ...

How about the Alpe D'Huez long distance tri? For no other reason than it includes Alpe D'Huez.

I was going to comment that for you Turbo, you could choose a bike race, but I like your thoughts about Alpe D'Huez, do you think we could get some of our club members out there one year?

Really fancy Alp D'Huez! However, the flat TT style bike bike courses appeal to me too. Need to research this question properly but I like the sound of Clearwater - good distance for me and the bike splits look outrageous!

Look out Frank! Training Pest may be inbound to Bristol end of Jan now 8-)

Clearwater is a draft-fest Sags, stay away from there (and you need to qualify at another 70.3 race, more money).
Alpe D'Huez sounds like the play to be!

Stay away from Clearwater. Anyone who doesn't cheat there is either a saint or a liar. It would turn even the most righteous of us to the dark side. Next step is the crack obviously obviously to keep it in perspective. (Don't do drugs kids.)

Hawaii, St Croix, Boulder or Monaco are in the do before I die category.

To avoid: Florida and Clearwater for the above reason.

Cheers

Neill

St Croix and Monaco sound good, both tough 70.3 races with testing bike courses. What do you reckon Turbo?
