Keeping busy.......

I've been pretty busy since my last post. The training has been going well (until now, but I'll get to that later), this included a training day with theTriLife.com down at Halton. Rich, Thom and Dan put us through our paces on the swim, bike and run, and also included some great tips on training for long distance triathlon. The run work with Dan was excellent (he's the ex-GB tri coach), Thom's swim set was great and it was finished off with an hour of high cadence turbo work. Hopefully me and Chris Tasker are going to hook up with Thom some time soon to do some more swim analysis, either down in Swansea where he is based, or he may come up to Cardiff. Happy days!

Well, not so much happy days I'm afraid. I've picked up a little injury. Nothing major, but enough to set me back a little bit. My right calf cramped during the swim set on the weekend (we were wearing fins!), so that has been sore for a day or two, but has pretty much cleared up now. The main issue is my left hamstring, I think I've tweaked it (it's not torn, just strained) but it is pretty uncomfortable. Not painful really, just uncomfortable. I am due to do some track sessions this week, but I think it would be wise to skip those until it has healed up, especially with my Lanzarote training camp just round the corner. I need to address my left hamstring, all of last season it felt a little weak, it was not problem for me but I think I should start a daily routine with it just to make sure it is bullet proof for this years Ironman training. Train smart all!

I have a good exercise for hamstrings that the physio showed me. It seems to have helped me. It involves lying on your back and some pelvic thrusting - we could try it in the coffee shop at NH2?!
