This morning I decided to go and do a 5km race, part of the ParkRun series in Cardiff. Why? Just to see how my body was feeling after almost 2 weeks post Ironman Regensburg.
Well, it hurt, alot! My muscles didn't feel too bad but my joints were sore from the first km. It was a tough run, perfect conditions really but not ideal preparation with an Ironman in my legs. I managed 19:00, which is about 35 seconds slower than my PB on this course, but I'm happy with that time. My PB was done back in April after I'd done quite a bit of speed work on the track, so I couldn't really expect to be near that sort of pace today. Anyway, good run and the start of things to come I think. Train smart all!

19 is not to be sniffed at (unless you're Fish, Daz, Sags etc!). But for an Old Git like me I think that's pretty good post IM.
