Back from my course....and another 5k run

I am now back from my 3 week course, which entailed plenty of studying (no, really), not a lot of structured training, too much "good" food and a little too much "enjoying" of the local attractions. All in all not a very healthy few weeks, but a good time to recharge my batteries and come back ready to get stuck into some solid training. I'll be going away for a week over Christmas (Cyprus again) so that'll disrupt my training, but I should still be able to get out and run most days so that should keep the festive weight off a little bit!

I did the local 5k Park Run again this morning. Not having trained for it, I wasn't expecting too much from the race. Again it was cold and very wet, it seems south Wales had a torrential downpour last night, but I was determined not to let this put me off. In previous weeks I'd set off at an unrealistic pace and ended up paying for it at the end, so I decided to run at a more conservative pace at the start and (hopefully) feel stronger towards the end. So what was the outcome? Well, I got exactly the same time as last week (still no mention of the time you'll notice!), however I did feel much stronger in the final 1.5 km. So, was it worth it? I'm not sure, perhaps I need to experiment some more with different paces and see what happens - it's all a bit of fun at the moment.
