So am I ready for IM Austria? I'm not sure, but with 3 weeks to go I guess I had better be. Today was a big run day at the end of another big week, 2.5 hours at various different paces monitoring heart rate. From this I can roughly work out what my heart rate will be at different paces during the Ironman, and plan my strategy for the run so not to blow up and ruin my race.
This week was another week of 14+ hours and I've still got a sprint race to do tomorrow. It's a local open water event which I'll be doing to practise some open water skills (sighting, pacing etc) and just get a good blow out before I head off to France next week with work. I reckon I'll be absolutely shot during the triathlon tomorrow, particularly after the last 3 weeks of training, so I'm not expecting too much from the race itself. Train smart all!

You're ready!
I'm sure you will be fine mate. Hope all went well today.
Today went ok thanks, I was shattered but it was a good race.
Results are in, I was 22nd out of 91 and about 6 minutes quicker than when I did this race a few years ago. Well pleased considering the training block I've just finished and the 17 mile run I did the day before! :-)
Nice one Frank.
All bodes very well for the future. Have a nice week in Toulose. Not too much vin rougue ready for a nice run in.
Keep the faith and you'll be flying in Austria.
Good, better, best.
