Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

It looks like the south of England is suffering from the snow that we seem to be having at the moment, but it did start to snow before last night, it was snowing on Wednesday too. How do I know? Because I was running a cross country race in it, that's how I know! A colleague and I went to High Wycombe to race a championship race for RAF Lyneham (our parent unit for admin/sport). My colleague, Carl Rice, is an experienced (and fast) cross country runner, but he didn't let on until we actually got to the race that this race was the toughest course on the circuit! We arrived in plenty of time, to find a boggy, hilly and snowy High Wycombe, I was not impressed!

Anyway, the race was tough, 2 laps of bog and hills. The second lap was worse as you knew what was coming! It was a tough, tough race, however I finished 27th (about 60 starters) and helped RAF Lyneham win the team prize. A good result, all in all, but I am suffering now, my hamstrings and calves are still sore and very tight. I did a light recovery swim yesterday and had the day off today (we had our works Xmas do last night, so a day off was definately in order). I hope to swim tomorrow and am going mountain biking on Sunday - happy days! Train smart all.
