So how’s the training progressing? This is week 4 of “real” structured training for 2010 and it all seems to be going OK at the moment. I’m seeing some good gains on the turbo (the turbo is getting a good hammering at the moment, so much so I haven’t been out on my road bike in 2010 yet!) and my faster paced run training seems to be paying dividends too. The swimming is going OK too, not as much progress on my swim times, but I’m feeling more comfortable in the water and that must be a good sign. I’m not sure if I’ll reach my goal of a 7min 400m swim by the time I go out to Lanzarote in 3 weeks time, but I guess that’s not too important at this stage of the season anyway.
I did a cross country race last week and it was good to see some of the triathletes there (Jase, Sam Wright, Fish and Nige Porter) and have a catch up with them. The race didn’t go so well for me, I was disqualified! I was in a group of about 5 or 6 runners and the lead guy went the wrong way on the course, so we all just went with him, not realising it was the wrong way as we were all heads down and blowing out of our arses! We realised our mistake when the lead guy (a young under 23 International) went flying passed us! We continued on and finished the course (we missed off about a mile of the course), and I actually crossed the line in 4th place! It was quite funny watching some of my colleagues cross the line a few minutes later with me already changed into my warm clothes and them wondering how I had finished so quickly!
It’s good to see Jase and Mal back blogging and we have a new blogger on the scene too, one Coastal Controller, aka Jonny Briggs. Hopefully Jonny will keep us updated with his training as prepares for IM France in June.
