My first goal of the season I had set for myself was to swim 7 min for 400m before I embark on the Lanzarote training camp, which starts next week. For the last 6 weeks or so I’ve been doing a lot of drills and some very short (50m/100m) sprint efforts, so at present I have no real endurance to speak of. I was telling my wife last week that I thought I would fail in my first goal of the year, not a good start I guess, but thought I would give the 400m a bash during yesterdays swim set.
I was a little tired as it was my third swim in three days (a lot for me), but am pleased to report that I came in on 6min58. Not fast by some guys standards, but it is a good start to the season, now I can build on that and go for my second swim goal: a sub 6min45 400m by the time I go to my second training camp on the 17th April (Fuerteventura this time!). Well done Frank. I've been following your 'Swim' thread on TriTalk and the disciplined approach is now bearing fruit. I'm sure you'll reach your next target easily - just get Sags to chase you in the pool!
He's not here long enough! Only a couple of weeks to go & he'll be back in Cambridgeshire. Shame!
Sags - swim? like thats gonna happen!!
Nice one Frank.
I live almost next door to Ten- Point if you want me to check anything out for you?
Turbo, following swim threads! You're a triathlete in denial mate!
Neill, thanks mate. Do you use Ten-point? If so, give me a text, I can sort out a bit of discount for you. Later!
Good to hear it's all coming together.
