Well, I cannot believe how quickly this week has gone by. I had every intention of getting up a race report for the Pembrokeshire duathlon by now...but the time has flown by. The race went well for me, I'm pleased to get the first race of the season in the bag. I came 22nd out of 120 starters. I hoped to come in the top 25 or 30, so I guess that's mission accomplished. The 2 run legs were good (for my standard) with the first 5km only being about 15 seconds slower than my standalone 5km PB. The bike leg still needs some work, I was a couple of minutes down on where I really want to be, but I guess that gives me something to work towards. The race was well organised, in a great location, I will definately be back next year!

For those of you who were interested in my new wheels, here they are. I bought a second hand pair of Zipp clincher 606's. That's a 404 on the front and a 808 on the rear. They rolled pretty well in the race, although the rear was rubbing on the frame at times, I'll sort that out before the next race.

I was due to fly out to Fuerterventura from Gatwick tomorrow (notice the word "was") for a training camp, however with this ash cloud across Europe it's looking increasingly unlikely. Hopefully I will get out on Sunday, but there's nothing to do but sit tight and wait. Train smart all!

The bike looks sweet, especially with the white 'Zipp' stickers. Get a disk cover and you will be prepared for all eventualities.

Best of luck in getting a flight out; that must be so frustrating.

Well done mate.

Must be your enormous power causing the chainstays to bend and thus the wheels to rub. :-)

Yes very nice wheels chap! If you can't get to fly out, there is always the Int Serv Du on the 21st?

Thanks guys. Looks like the Fuerterventura camp is off, this volcano is still causing chaos across Europe! Nightmare!
