ITU Championship Series opener in Sydney

This weekend see's the first round of the ITU World Championship Series race and it's a real who's who of elite Olympic racing. For the UK, we'll have the Brownlee brothers, Tim Don, Stu Hayes, Will Clarke, Adam Bowden and the ever-green Marc Jenkins; with the girls being represented by former World Champ Helen Jenkins, Vicky Holland, Liz Blatchford and Kerry Lang. Add to the mix all the top ten from last years World Championship Series and you have all the ingredients for an amazing FAST race!

A lot of people think ITU racing is boring and is just a race for "wet runners", but I have to disagree. These guys (and girls) are fast! And if someone is willing to take a risk on the bike and try a breakaway, it makes it even more exciting. And the fact that the UK has some of the top triathletes in the world helps too!

I know Macca is trying to make the Australian Olympic Squad and I hope he makes it, it would add a huge buzz to the sport. But I don't think he'll make it. The sport has moved on so much and you need to be able to run 30 to 31minutes off the bike and I'm afraid Macca is not in that league anymore. I love Macca, but his triathlon future should be in the Ironman game; leave the fast stuff to the young guns!

Train smart all!
