Headed off to Fairwater, Cardiff this morning to watch a local sprint event - the Emily Prosser sprint triathlon. A few mates were doing it, so I though I'd get a bike session in and do some tri socialising at the same time. I headed over nice and early as I wanted to watch some of the early novices start. This was one of my first triathlons and I always like to support it if I can. So 30 mins later I'm at the event and it starts to piss down - not a great start for these guys new to the sport!
A few waves are in and out of the pool before you know it, so I head off to the big climb on the bike route (they do it twice) to give the competitors a bit of morale support. The competitors were blowing by the time they got to the top, but appreciated the kind words from me (at least I think they did!).
After watching most of the field come home on the run I headed off to do a bit of bike training before heading home. Just easy stuff now, all the hard work in done, so it was just 90 mins of steady riding with a few 5 min efforts thrown in just for fun. Time to start my taper tomorrow, according to my coach it's time to do some simple stuff to keep me sharp but not tax me too much, so short sharp efforts for a short duration with plenty of recovery. Seemed to work for my last "big" race. As Bruce Lee once wrote: "simplicity is the key to brilliance". Let's hope so!

Welcome to Blogland Buddy.
Who is your coach? (Or is that Top Secret info?)
See you next weekend.
Coach is Richard Jones (former Elite/pro) who runs theTriLife.com, very happy so far, so much easier with a structured training plan. It means I don't have to think about what training I'm going to do (and why), he does it all for me. Happy days!
Yipee! Another RAF Tri blog to read. Good luck in your build to Vitruvian.
