A new stretch added to my stretching routine

I’ve recently added a yoga pose (stretch) to my stretching routine, it’s called the Sun Salutation Pose, also known as Salute to the Sun or Surya Namaskar in yoga-speak. It’s a flowing series of 12 poses (or stretches) which help improve strength and flexibility of the body’s muscles and spinal column. It also warms up the body and tones the abdominal muscles.

Check out: http://www.abc-of-yoga.com/yogapractice/sunsalutation.asp

For me, I’m not into the whole breathing/meditation side of yoga (based on the concept that breath is the source of life, etc), however I feel that the Sun Salutation with its alternating backward and forward bending postures which flex and stretch the spinal column through its maximum range gives a profound stretch to the whole body. Something we could all do with, especially over these winter months. Check it out, it only takes a few minutes, I’m sure you would benefit from adding this to your routine.

Looks more like a moon-worshipping pose to me! :-)
