Check out my new trainers! I bought these today for a couple of x-country races I plan on doing in the next 6 weeks or so. It was the colour that sold it - awesome! I'm happy to report that the achilles seems to be ok now, I rested up (running) for about 10 days and then ran easy for a day or two, so far so good. I guess I will have lost some run fitness but that's not too important at this time of year. I plan on running a x-country race this Wednesday, it'll be my first x-country race of the season, it also happens to be a champoinship race so all the big guns will be out! Ooops, maybe not the best race to do as my first one back!
I've trying to get into the pool alot more recently (wouldn't be too difficult as I hadn't swam for about 2 months!), so this morning I ran to the pool (about 25 mins) only to find it was closed for a water polo competition. Not to be too perturbed, I ran to the next pool (only about a mile away), did my session there and then ran home. OK, nothing too special there, but this morning I ran with a rucksack and was really surprised how different it felt (my muscles will agree!). I know you have extra weight on you (not a huge amount, it was only swimming kit after all) and your C 0f G will move, but it was surprising how different it was. Anyway, train smart all!
