Cross country racing

I took part in a cross country race at Corsham yesterday, it's renowned as the hardest course on the circuit, but having never done it before you don't quite know what to expect. The race brief mentioned the big hill at the end, but that didn't quite do it justice!

It was a small field, but that didn't distract from the race itself, the brutal nature of the course made up for that! Huge long climbs out of the valley, followed by steep descents on wet, loose tracks back into the valley (several times) led to the hardest running race I've ever done! And then there was the big hill at the end that they mentioned in the race brief, it was an extremely steep hill on wet grass, which everyone walked (apart form the winner apparently), including me. It was just too steep to run, particularly as it came so late in the race, it really was that hard!

Overall, it turned out to be a good race, I came 8th overall but the damage is now becoming apparent. My legs are in pieces! Some serious recovery is now needed, race and train smart all!
